Call for abstracts
Deadline extended until April 15th

The Venice 2020 submission deadline has now officially expired with hundreds of abstracts received from 48 different countries worldwide. The proposals received cover all conference topics with a particularly strong response to the themes of biological waste to energy, thermal treatment, renewable fuels, and experiences in developing countries. Most abstracts were handed in from Italy, followed by Germany, France, Brazil, China and the UK. Abstracts are currently being reviewed by members of the International Scientific Committee and will be subsequently selected by the Symposium Programme Committee. Authors will be notified of the outcome of the selection no later than 31st March 2020.

In response to the numerous requests, we are happy to extend the deadline for submitting abstracts until April 15th, in order to maximise the opportunity for both professional staff and academics to share their latest developments across the range of topics represented at Venice 2020.

Abstracts (at least one but no more than two full pages) should be prepared using the template provided and submitted as a MS WORD file attachment using the online submission form.

Abstracts must clearly describe the content of presentations and their basis (detailed case study, discussion of experience from practice, preliminary research data, completed research not presented previously, review of literature, administrative initiatives and regulations, etc) and may be submitted for oral or poster presentation.

The official language of the Symposium is English and all abstracts must therefore be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. The Symposium will also arrange a session to be held entirely in Italian, in order to facilitate the participation of local delegates.

Please note that the Organising Secretariat will confirm receipt of all abstracts. Authors not receiving an e-mail notifying receipt of their abstract should check with the Secretariat to ensure their abstract has been effectively received.

Abstracts submitted for presentation will undergo a thorough selection process carried out by world leading waste management experts, represented by the Symposium International Advisory Board and Executive Programme Committee. Final destination (oral/poster) will be established according to the following criteria: request by the author, topic relevance, characteristics of the paper (highly specific, preliminary results, case study) and number of papers received on the same topic.

All final papers accepted to Venice 2020, including papers scheduled in poster sessions, will be published on a dedicated set of Proceedings. Additionally, a considerable number of leading papers will be processed for publication on Scopus indexed journals.
