What is the format of SUM 2020 and when will it take place?
Given the current pandemic and measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus, SUM 2020 will be delivered as a virtual offering, 18-20 November 2020. The Symposium will be held entirely digitally, therefore all you will need is a computer, phone or tablet and an internet connection. Further details and guidance on how to navigate the meeting platform will be announced in due course.

What is the programme for the virtual conference?
The overall Symposium structure will remain essentially the same, featuring parallel oral sessions, NetWorking (NeWs) sessions and e-poster presentations.

How will the presentations be given?
Our virtual experience will be highly interactive and include both live and pre-recorded sessions. Oral sessions will mainly include pre-recorded videos (in order to avoid problems related to different time zones and internet connection) followed by a moderated live discussion.
Networking sessions, where the accent is on open discussion among participants, will mainly be organized as live sessions. Further details will be available soon.

Networking with other delegates is a big reason why to attend. How are you going to offer that benefit virtually?
We are aware that networking is one of the biggest reasons to attend a conference besides the scientific programme. Please be assured that we will provide ample opportunities to network in the virtual space. This will include, but is not limited to, live moderated discussions, Q&A chats, virtual exhibitor booths with live interactions with the exhibitors and much more.

Can I arrange a virtual meet-up with colleagues?
Yes, absolutely! You can simply browse the list of participants and click on their name to contact them and schedule a virtual meet-up. Further details and guidance on how to navigate the meeting platform will be announced in due course.

How do I register myself or a group?
If you have already registered for the SUM 2020 in Venice, you are automatically registered for the virtual meeting. If you and/or your group have not completed your registraton yet, please visit our registration page for packages and details at https://www.urbanmining.it/en/entrance-fees

The times for the live events are not convenient for me, can I still participate in the event?
We understand your time-zone may not allow you to attend all of the live sessions of the event, therefore we will made all conference contents available also on-demand.

Will I still be able to access the presentations after the meeting?
Yes, for registered participants all conference contents will be made available after the meeting for a limited period of time.

I would like to attend SUM 2020. Am I still in time to submit a presentation?
The fact that the Symposium will be held entirely digitally allows us to welcome further paper proposals. If you were interested to submit your paper, but your ability to attend the conference was uncertain, now is your chance! Read more at https://www.urbanmining.it/en/call-for-papers
