How to reach Venice

The Symposium will be held in the Conference Centre of the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal, located in the heart of Venice, just a few steps away from St. Mark’s Square.
Getting there is very easy as there are many waterbus stops right in front of the hotel: San Marco Vallaresso, San Marco Giardinetti, San Marco San Zaccaria.

GETTING THERE

BY AIRPLANE

All major airlines fly into Venice Marco Polo Airport (airport code: VCE).  
The airport is connected to Piazzale Roma Bus Station, one of the main tourist terminals in Venice, by scheduled bus services operated by ACTV and ATVO.

Bus service to Venice:
In 25 minutes, ACTV bus route No. 5-AeroBus takes you to Piazzale Roma: from there, the public transport waterbuses leave for the historic centre of Venice. 
ATVO provides fast connection from the airport to Piazzale Roma, no stop, in just 20 minutes.
The one-way ticket, including baggage, costs € 10,00. The round-trip ticket (open return) costs € 18,00.


Connection via sea from the airport to San Marco / San Zaccaria is provided by Alilaguna BLUE, ORANGE and RED (via Murano) lines. A detailed timetable can be downloaded from the Alilaguna website. Tickets cost € 15 for a single journey and € 27 for a return trip and are on sale from the Alilaguna Stand in the arrivals lounge, at the ticket machines in the baggage claim area, at the ticket office at the dock and on board the water bus. Discounted advance tickets can be bought online from the Alilaguna shop.

A taxi service operated by Radiotaxi connects Venice Marco Polo airport to Piazzale Roma. The journey lasts approximately 15 minutes and costs € 40. You may contact RadioTaxi on: +39 041 5964. You may also opt to catch a water taxi from the airport to Venice city centre. The total cost of the journey is approximately € 100, which could be particularly convenient for large groups as water taxis can carry up to 10 people and 10 suitcases. BY TRAIN
If you decide to get to Venice by train, you’ll be taken straight into historical centre.Indeed, it is the eastiest way to reach the Canal Grande. When you get off you can eirther decide to walk, get a vaporetto (water bus) or a water taxi.

BY CAR
You can easily get to Venice by car through motorway (A4 from Trieste and Turin, A27 from Belluno, and A13 from Bologna) and road links (highway SS309 Romea from the Adriatic coast, SS14 from Trieste, SS13 from Treviso, SS11 from Padua). Once you have reached the lagoon take the Ponte della libertà, the bridge that literally links Venice to the mainland. If you follow the signs to Venice you’ll find yourself in Piazzale Roma, which is as far as you can go by car. The following parking areas are avaiable: Autorimessa Comunale, Garage S. Marco and S. Andrea Tronchetto.
